The Evo Shift 4G is now receiving the Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread update from HTC. You will need to manually download this update to get it now. Sprint will be rolling out the OTA (over the air) update although this is not scheduled until the 27th meaning if you want it now go and get it. We say manual although all we mean is that you won’t get the notification automatically but can still get the update manually over the air through the HTC Software Update selection on your device.
How to get the Evo Shift 4G Gingerbread Update now:
Settings -> System Updates -> HTC Software Updates
This upgrade will include:
- Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread
- HTC Sense 2.1
- Swype App
- Smoother scrolling
- quick settings tab in notification bar
Of course just getting Android 2.3.3 adds a few nice features but we decided to list features that we know you will notice. Also keep in mind that with updates like these you will likely have at least a bug to work out and will get an update for the update within another few weeks. This is just an assumption but we didn’t notice any extensive soak tests of anything so its up in the air. Let us know what you think of the update when you decide to grab it and any features that have been improved so we can add them here for others to benefit from. Also we would like to hear about any flaws that you find with the Android 2.3.3 update as that could help others decide if they want to download the update now or wait for the bugs to get worked out first.
