Droid Pro Gingerbread Update Available

Finally all of you Droid Pro users out there are getting your long anticipated update to Gingerbread. Verizon has posted the change log for the Droid Pro and many users have already reported getting the update. To find the update and install it go to “settings -> Software update -> check now”.

The OTA (over the air) update comes in the form of an 86 MB file so we recommend connecting to WiFi before beginning the upgrade. It should take around 20 minutes to download and install the update.

As all of you get the update installed let us know how it goes and if its what you expected. Also don’t forget to let us know about any issues with the upgraded software. We hope there are few if any since it took so long to get out in the first place.

I’ve gotten the notification of the update 4 days ago. That’s when my update started to download and its never gotten pass 3% I’m not too sure if anyone else is getting this issues, but I’ve tried everything. Restarting my phone. The download sign is just driving me crazy as I can’t get it off my phone and it asses up my battery really quick.

Gingerbread completely restylizes everything. You have to relearn 50% of how to use your phone…thus making the manual obsolete. I dont mind the style changes, but do mind being forced into relearning the way to change my settings or what options are even offered. Also, before the update my green LED would flash whenever I had an unread message, missed call, etc., but now it flashes ALL THE TIME, and it is extremely agitating that it conditions you to think blinking green as a missed message and now it is ALWAYS blinking! WTF!

I can finally arrange my contact names last name first

My computer and phone won’t sync since the upgrade. I’m on Windows 7 using Deja Office and Companionlink. I downloaded the drivers from Motorola but they won’t install. Bummer, I use my calendar all the time.

Im having the same issue as DROID Pro user. My phone has been trying to download this update for days and hasn’t gotten past 48%. I’ve tried rebooting, taking out my battery and even starting the update process from the beginning…still no luck : ( HELP! The downloading symbol at the top is driving me insane!!

  6. Bob says:

Anybody else out there whose phone no longer recognizes an existing e-mail account after the upgrade? Verizon’s people were nice, but could not solve problem. Their proposed solution would have wiped the entire phone memory and reloaded it. That takes about 6 hours with the huge dataset that my phone requires. I’m trying to avoid that step and any assistance would be appreciated!

  7. Kevin says:

My Droid Pro is now dead slow, reminds me of the days with dial up modem. I can select text message and almost go to lunch waiting for the blank screen to load.

  8. Jenn says:

I can’t even get to the update screen. Just tells me “check for update was not available at this time. Try again later” Super frustrating!

  9. Dave says:

I have been fairly happy with my company issued Droid Pro. However since the update 2 weeks ago my phone has become almost worthless. It now randomly freezes, reboots, or powers off. Apps disappear from the home screen and the screen brightness stays dim despite what brightness level I have it set on. Worst of all..since the update my battery life has been reduced by close to half!

  10. Rob says:

My Droid Pro has also slowed down and my battery life is awful; if I use the phone for anything, it will not last through the day. I did what the Verizon rep suggested and reset the phone…don’t do it! I have had to totally redo almost everything that I had done with the phone over the past year, and the reset made the phone slower and did not improve the battery life.

  11. Borhan says:

Droid Pro really sucks now after the update. No matter what I do it is very slow. Phone resets by itself daily, running apps, text messages, anything takes forever. No help anywhere from anyone on this issue. Oh yeah, I touch a button on my phone and battery is at 30% in an hour.
