Remove Carrier IQ (CIQ) Keylogger On Android

Carrier IQ Removal InstructionsCarrier IQ comes on many Android devices and logs every move you make on the device. This keylogging rootkit has been confirmed so far on HTC and Motorola phones with Sprint and AT&T.

How to Remove Carrier IQ from your Android Phone:
Currently only Android users are able to detect and remove the Carrier IQ thanks to the openness of Android. You will need to be rooted before trying the methods below:

  1. Install a Custom ROM on your device that will replace the custom ROM therefore removing the files that run for Carrier IQ to function.
  2. Download TrevE’s Logging Test App (Download Link) and Purchase the $.99 Key on the Android Market (Market Link). Open the App up and hit “Menu -> Remove IQ”. This will completely remove it from your device.
