Improve Battery Life on the HTC Inspire

After the Android 2.3 Gingerbread update to the HTC Inspire it has really taken a hit on battery life. There are many things that you can do to improve battery life on the Inspire although there are some bigger things you can make sure you do to improve it the most.

Improve Android Battery PowerIncrease HTC Inspire Battery Life:

  • When a strong network connection is available be sure to leave your Wifi turned on. The network data connection for this device seems to be one of the largest battery consumers since the Gingerbread update. Although keep in mind that weak WiFi connections will not help the battery situation as much.
  • Turn the autobrightness off and set it to a steady 50% if possible otherwise increase it a little more but avoid letting it go to full brightness by setting it manually.
  • Only leave GPS on when you need it and be sure to turn it off when its not in use. GPS is only needed when using an application that requires it and can decrease battery life by as much as 25% of its time alive. This also is a side effect of some bad Gingerbread Inspire interaction.
  • Bluetooth on the Inspire has some serious drain on the battery so you want to leave it turned off unless in use. When Bluetooth is on you can actually watch the battery drain out if you watch it. If the Inspire ever gets the ICS upgrade this will be improved greatly.
  • Of course there are many other items such as apps syncing all the time (increase the times between sync on applications) as well turning off vibration on keypress and keypad tones.

The battery on the Inspire and the devices hardware don’t seem to be the problem. Most of the items above improve battery life on any Android device although Gingerbread on the Inspire has caused an increase for the device. The only true way to increase battery life dramatically would be rooting and installing a custom ROM on it like CM7.
