There is an update to the Motorola Atrix 2 rolling out now in the form of an OTA (over the air) update that brings its software version to 55.13.25.MB865.ATT.en.US. This update includes some security updates as well as improvements to features like the camera and mobile hotspot.

- Camera – Enhancements to deliver better overall picture taking experience so you never miss a moment
- Google Music – Addition of Google Music application so you have greater access to the world of music. Shop millions of songs and hundreds of free tracks. Store your purchases on Google Music for free, and listen instantly on your mobile device.
- My Gallery, My Music, My Files – Re-naming of Motorola Gallery, Music, and Files applications for easy access in the Applications Tray
- Device Security – Enhancements to deliver greater device security, including addition of Android security patches from Google and Cisco Any Connect VPN enablers.
- Emergency Alerts – Enhancement to allow you to receive emergency alerts from authorities such as Hurricane warning notifications.
- Amazon Kindle – Enhancement to include link to app for quick and easy method to access your library of Amazon digital books as well as access to the entire Amazon library.
- AT&T Messages – Enhancement to include link to app for quick and easy method to give you access to all of your texts, calls and messages which have been stored in the cloud.
- Keyboard – Improvements to keyboard functionality for better email experience
- Mobile Hotspot – Improved stability for better overall performance
- Webtop – Enhancements to improve stability and better overall performance
Many of you may have already received the OTA update although those who have not can grab it manually via “Settings -> About Phone -> System Updates”. This is a rather large update so be sure to connect to Wifi.

I have successfully updated my atrix 2. I have not had any problems with functionality. The phone works as good as it did when I purchased it at Christmas. I do have a problem with the addition of the apps without being able to approve or deny the addition of the apps. The Emergency alert app (though useful for some) will not allow uninstall. You cannot turn of the Presidential Alert feature. The app also allows the “Authorities” To access your messages. I can understand sending a text message or an email, but “allowing access to my messages” tells me that they can not only input an alert but they can take a message out when ever they want. It has not happened, but the ability is there for it to happen. Though I have nothing to hide, I do not agree with this ability to intercept my messages or remove them from my phone.

After installing the update, I have problem with the hostpot… even I have 3g data it says I lost conection and I dont get internet in my devices connected

And also… I lost the root and now I dont know how to root it again with this update… any ideas????

After update I have problems with the hotspot, I must try many times to make it works, it says: “3g lost” even the 3g connection is ok, I know that because I can surf through the device in hostpot mode, also I lost the root, someone can help??? any ideas to fix the hotspot and root the phone again???
