There was a recent fire sale of HP Touchpad’s where retailers and HP both were selling them cheap. The 16GB Touchpad was going for $99 and the 32GB Touchpad for $149. Now that more people own a Touchpad than any other tablet developers are all over it. Of course the project was scrapped by HP so the support will not be there but what the heck $99 for a tablet is insane.
We expected Android to be flashed or at least ported over within days. Now there is a video where someone claims to have put Android 2.2.1 Froyo on the HP Touchpad. This being said we don’t have the ROM or any other information on the Installation of it. As soon as we get more information and files we will post them here on Android Advice.
If you have a Droid X running Android 2.2 your can root it with a single click. The Droid X has a previous root method but none as easy as this. Sil3ntKi113 over at alldroid.org has created a simple one click guy to root the Droid X.
Root Instructions for the Droid X:
- Download and unzip the One Click Root program (Download Link)
- Put your Phone in Debugging mode (Settings -> Applications -> Development)
- Connect your phone to your PC via USB
- Open the program you downloaded above as Administrator (right click and run as admin)
- Click Root and follow any instructions
- After rooted go to the android market and install Superuser App. If its already installed then your already ok.
Please keep in mind that if it doesn’t root and you are turning bluetooth on and off try turning wifi on and off instead.
US Cellular promised the EE19 update for their Samsung Mesmerize and has now made it available for download via the U.S. Cellular Android updates page. You need to have Kies Mini installed in order to use the update. This update should correct the some users phone calls not being heard and an issue with the volume buttons not responding correctly. Viewsonic has announced the release of the Viewbook 730 7 inch Android Tablet their most cost effective 7 inch Android tablet to date. This is more of a multi-purpose eReader and will compete with the Nook Color more so than the Flyer or Galaxy Tab.
