Facebook App forced on Employees

Facebook has been one of the worst when it comes to app development on any platform although the worst is Android. Facebook is now forcing its employees to use the Android mobile Facebook app in an effort to speed up the process of getting a fast, reliable app developed. Their iOS app was just updated yesterday and seems to at least be tolerable at the moment so it seems their focus is Android.

By forcing Facebook employees to use Android phones and the Android Facebook app is an attempt to get employees to provide feedback. We aren’t entirely sure why Google Play Store reviews and other review sites aren’t sufficient although it nice to see Facebook at least attempting to fix the massive amount of issues.

Facebook App Center for Android and iOS

Tonight we have heard that Facebook will be launching what they will call the “App Center”. This Facebook App Center will be a feature that will assist users in finding new mobile apps for their respective device that can be used with friends. From what we understand the App Center will only contain what they call “high quality” apps.

Facebook will be measuring the quality of the app based on user reviews and input by users of the app itself. The app recomendations will also be personalized from user to user to be sure that everyone gets the most out of the recomendations. On top of this you wqill be able to see the apps that your friends are using to give you the opportunity to get in on the same ones.

The Facebook App Center will be added to the Facebook mobile app for both Android and iOS, and of course will be able to be found on Facebook.com as well. Once you find the app based on the recomendation and reviews you can download the app. The download will actually take you to the Apple App Store or Android Market based on the device. If you are looking through the apps on Facebook.com you can send the link to your phone for later downloading as well.

We are likely to see more attempts at new services based on Facebook’s recent IPO fail but this one seems to have been in the monds for a while. The Facebook App Center has already started rolling out to users and will start out showing around 600 apps. The new App Center feature is supposed to get to all Facebook users within the next few weeks. If you play with it let us know what you think in the comments below.

Fast Facebook app for Android

With the Facebook app constantly releasing revisions, there are often bugs and lags when simply trying to use it. This is a big reason many Android users look for a good alternative app than the one offered by Facebook.

Fast Facebook is currently in its beta, but already shows promise of a cleaner, faster, and more streamlined experience for users. It was developed by team2soft and claims to use less battery  and memory than other alternatives. One reason for this is that it only runs when you want it to.

It does offer the main features users want such as comment, share, like, feeds in real-time, news, status, photos, etc. It does give you capability to change your background theme for a personal touch. You can select from provided themes or select an image from your Android device’s library.
