Panasonic is introducing the Toughbook as a tablet that can take a hit. This tablet will focus on field workers like construction, where the tablet doesn’t have to be guarded all the time (the Nextel of Tablets ).
Toughbook Features we are aware of:
10.1 inch screen
720p glare-reflective bright display (for direct sun)
Multi-touch with stylus
GPS and 3G Radio
Android Version (unknown)
We can only hope for Honeycomb although with the customizations that will be needed for a toughbook tablet this seems unlikely. While we don’t have many specs for this device at the moment it will hit a market that is currently untouched by the tablet manufacturers at this point.
There is no word right now if it will be offered wholesale to businesses or if it will just be another tablet showing up in retail stores. We should hear more as Panasonic releases more information although it probably will not be available until Q4 2011 at the earliest according to PC Mag.
