Intel's first Android Smartphone the Lenovo K800

Intel’s CEO Paul Otellini has stated that Intel’s upcoming Android smartphone the Lenovo k800 is almost ready for the public. This will be Intel’s first smartphone to hit the market and the CEO said “the launch of our first Intel architecture-based smartphone” will occur “later this week”.

The Intel based Lenovo K800 will run an Atom Z2460 processor and will start its life in China. We first had a look at the Lenovo K800 in Las Vegas back in January at CES 2012.

Even though the Atom Z2460 is only a single core processor it is just as fast as most of the multi-core processors available on high end Android devices now. Also there are talks with Motorola and Orange to also release a few Intel phones by the end of the year.

lenovo IdeaPad S2109

While we noticed the Lenovo IdeaTab S2109 make it through the FCC recently its now officially announced by Lenovo. The tablet wont be an iPad killer but has some great specs worth mentioning. The most notable and semi-expected feature currently is the fact that it runs Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box and has four speakers on the device.

Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet

According to AndroidCommunity SlashGear told them that the Lenovo ThinkPad Tablet will be getting the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update within the next few weeks to months. This isn’t a very clear release date for the ICS update but does at least let everyone know Lenovo has it on its radar for release the first half of this year.

The update will include  a version of Ice Cream Sandwich that is very similar to that of the Galaxy Nexus in that it will have the facial recognition and on screen buttons.  In this case the ThinkPad will have the on screen navigation and the hard buttons on the device itself.

This is pretty much all we have about this update right now but will keep you updated as we get more information. If you find out any information about this update before we do please let us know in the form of a comment below.

If you have a Lenovo ThinkPad tablet you have been waiting for some time to get root access on the device and now its here thanks to Dan Rosengerg. Along with that Justin Case and utkanos have been able to get ClockworkMod Recovery to work as well without any bugs we can see. Please take note that to get ClockworkMod Recovery on working on the ThinkPad you will need an external SD card.

From what little we can find on the Lenovo ThinkPad, it will be an August release with a price point around $499. This will keep it in the competitions same price range.
